New Pre-School facility |
What a fantastic week in the history of Falkirk School of Gymnastics with the opening of our fully equipped Pre-School facility and our 25th Anniversary of the opening of our facility in 1986. Over 300 gymnasts, coaches, parents and old members joined us for a celebration show. All our clubs were represented and put on a stunning demonstration of all the various gymnastics disciplines that use our facility every week. |
We were delighted to open our new fully equipped Pre-School facility in the old model railway section of the building. This will allow all our pre-school gymnasts to experience a full range of activities using real gymnastics equipment designed for their age group. This will also free up space in the main gym for other activities. |

EUROGYM 2008 ALBI FRANCE

FALKIRK
GYMNASTS SHINE IN THE SUN AT EUROGYM 2008
Sixteen members of
Falkirk Infinity Gymnastics Club accompanied by Coaches Robert and Jean
Callahan set off last Saturday for a week of outstanding gymnastics in Albi, a medieval town in the south off
France.
They were the only Scottish team representing Great Britain where 4500 gymnasts
from 22 countries gathered for the 6th Eurogym
event. During their visit the team performed twice in the city centre to very
large crowds given the number of visitors to the town. The girls attended 4
workshops, Tumbling, Acrobatics, Rugby and Beach Volleyball during the week
where top coaches from France
taught the girls some new skills. However at the Rugby
they were outclassed by the Icelandic girls who proved to be too strong on
the day. One of the trip highlights was the visit to the outdoor activity
centre which was a converted quarry with ski slopes, bob sleigh runs, water
skiing and trampolines in the water. As all the girls are good gymnasts they
had a wonderful time. At the closing ceremony we were honoured to be selected
to carry the British flag. Kayleigh Milne carried
the flag with Hanna Moffat and Stacey Edmiston carrying the Great Britain banner. The
ceremony was a superb event with over 2000 gymnasts performing in the stadium
at the same time. After a week of sunshine we returned to the usual Scottish
weather but all the girls had wonderful memories of their time in France. They
made friends that will last a lifetime and were a credit to their club, Scotland and Great Britain. We would like to
thank all members of the British Teams who were most helpful to Robert when
Jean took ill, especially Lisa Eastwood and the GB team who covered all the
meetings allowing Robert to stay with his team. There remainder of the team
were :- Heather McLuckie, Ailsa McLuckie,
Lyndsay McLuckie, Lisa
Rushford, Nicola Wilson, Rebecca Wilson, Kayleigh
Skinner, Kirsty Smith, Jenny Matthews, Bethany Gloag, Ashley Meikle, Leigh
Wright and Jenna Welsh.
