ATHENS VISIT 2004 - INFINITY GYMNASTICS CLUB

Falkirk Infinity Girls - In Athens

Rising like a Phoenix from the remains of Falkirk Teamgym, the new young Falkirk Infinity Gymnastics Club took up the invitation to take part in Cosmogym 2004 in Athens.

An all girls team of 12 lead by Robert Callahan and Carolyn Millar and supported by Carolyn’s husband Chris, travelled to the Olympic 2004 city of Athens in June for a 6 day visit and to take part in the International Cosmogym gymnastics festival.

Although Athens City was like a building site with scaffolding and building work going on all over the city, the main Olympic venues were awesome.
However we did not get too close as the security was so tight that we were only allowed to look and not permitted to take any photographs.

We had lots of time for sightseeing many of the Athens landmarks and also time on the beach swimming and sunbathing.

The team had 2 performances during the visit and the local and visiting teams from as far away as South Africa the Canary islands and Portugal gave great support to the team.
As Euro2004 was taking place during the visit we decided to support Greece and were able to feel the atmosphere when Greece qualified for the finals as we were staying in Omonia Square where all the supporters turned out in their thousands to celebrate.

We all enjoyed our visit especially the girls who were overseas for the first time and now look forward to further trips to new countries in the future.
